Articles - 2017 Review of the Defence Reform Act & Single Source Contract Regulations
Article Date: 30th January 2017
The Single Source Regulations Office (SSR0) has today issued its consultation paper with respect to the changes it would wish to incorporate into the single source contract pricing regulatory framework. This is an open consultation and all interested parties can make a contribution.
The three main areas of the SSRO issued consultation are:
(i) The desire of the SSRO to widen the scope of the coverage of the Defence Reform Act / Single Source Contract Regulations by proposing changes to a number of those factors that currently prevent contracts from falling within the regulatory pricing regime.
(ii) The desire of the SSRO to have enhanced rights of transparency with respect to its ability to request certain additional information from contractors that the SSRO considers necessary to enable it to adequately fulfil its statutory duties under the Defence Reform Act.
(iii) The desire of the SSRO to take on a greater role in the enforcing of the regime as it considers the UK MoD may not be best placed to carry out this function due to its vested interests of maintaining contractor relationships.
We will be adding further detail to these three topics shortly
